Tribute Mboweni

Tribute (Nickname Birdie) is on a mission to make South Africa and the world a better place. Before having landed the post of Field Ranger on Dassen Island, Tribute had completed her practical year in De Hoop Game Reserve and started her own Green Movement - Projekt 23, in celebration of her graduation in Ecotourism at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT).

She lived on Dassen Island mostly alone for a year and a half, monitoring and researching the African Penguin endemic in the area. Working with these birds is for Tribute, a way in which to diversify her own knowledge so that she can play her role in educating the South African youth and securing a better future for the environment, the country and society as a whole.Tribute is at the forefront of a new generation of South Africans who are redefining SA traditions and beliefs.

Projekt 23 – The Green Movement

Established in order to celebrate her graduation (Ecotourism at TUT), Tribute started Projekt 23, with an emphasis on educating the youth of SA. Inspired by our symbiotic relationship to nature and the need for active participation in issues surrounding the environment, she partnered with the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry (DWAF) to plant trees in schools and give conservation talks regarding trees and pollution. Tribute has worked with children from her neighborhood Golf View, Proclamation Hill, in Pretoria.
